NJYC announces a new Young Men's Ensemble led by J.D. Burnett

The New Jersey Youth Chorus, founded in 1992, is an auditioned choral program for children in grades two through twelve, divided into three ensembles:  Advanced (grades 7-12), Intermediate (grades 4-6), and a Musicianship class for younger members.  Well over one hundred choristers come from almost forty towns in six counties of New Jersey. 

The Chorus performs a wide range of choral literature from music of the classical masters to international folk music and gospel. The Chorus regularly performs with other professional musicians including The New Jersey Symphony Orchestra, Colonial Symphony, Canadian Brass, The Princeton Symphony Orchestra, and Mendelssohn Club Chorus.

The Chorus has also performed in concert with world-renowned tenor Ronan Tynan, appeared on the “Today Show”, and participated in numerous festivals in Hawaii, Oregon, Canada and England, to name a few. The Chorus toured Italy in the summer of 2007.

Justine Mastro in the Intermediate chorus drew the winning entry (right). Judges included: Carolyn Mozes--Art Teacher at Summit Middle School; Patricia Saxton--Painter, Owner/Graphic Designer, Saxton Studio, and Author/Illustrator of "The Book of Mermaids"; Mary Watson--Illustrator and Co-Owner/Creative Director of Shenanigan Books. Congratulations Justine!

NJYC Announces Young Men's Ensemble - Appoints J.D. Burnett as Director

Our mission is to encourage a love and appreciation of choral music for our members and our community.  We will accomplish this by providing our members with a unique opportunity for musical and personal development within an atmosphere of camaraderie and friendship.  Our dedication to artisitic excellence is shared with the community through concerts, collaborations, workshops and benefit performances for children's organizations and charities.
